Morley's Final Catalogue: A single specimen of the var. Zinckeni, Tr., was taken at sugar on an oak-trunk in Copdock Rectory garden in bright moonlight and east wind at 6.45p.m. on 30 September 1895 by the Revd. J.H. Hocking (EMM. xxxi, 279). None were seen since, outside Kent and Middlesex.

Recent Suffolk Status: A very rare immigrant. Not recorded in the county since 1895.

Life history: In Europe, single-brooded, the adults hibernating over the winter and reappearing in the spring.

Identification: Similar to Conformist but has a longer, thicker black bar running parallel to the the bottom of the forewing.

Habitat: Moorland in Europe.
