Morley's Final Catalogue: All along our coast, doubtless. Several at Felixstow in 1895 (Lord Rendlesham) and in September 1902 (Gibbs). Three at light at Thorp on 15 September 1930 (Trans. i, 101). Kessingland (EMM. 1904, 81); several at dusk and light in Benacre Broad during mid-September 1935 (Mr, Mly) and 1936 (Btn). Over thirty on Benacre denes in Sept. 1937.

Recent Suffolk Status: Locally common on the coast. Occasionally wanders slightly further inland.

Life history: Single-brooded. Larvae have been found in the county after dark in spring feeding on Sea campion on shingle.

Identification: Deep-brown dart lacks the black streaks at the edge of the forewing.

Habitat: Coastal shingle and the edge of saltmarshes.

Recorded in 13 (22%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1895.
Last Recorded in 2023.
