Morley's Final Catalogue: Not recorded from the county in Morley's time. He states: 'is confined to western England'.

Recent Suffolk Status: Very rare, with only a handful of recent records. First noted in Suffolk in 1979, at Nowton (R. Eley). Became quite regular in the 1970s, 1980s and early 1990s and sometimes seen in numbers at light: also found aestivating. Wings quite often found under bat roosts as well at this time.
Quite rapid decline in the mid 1990s and now the more recent Suffolk records are thought to be immigrants as they have been found near the coast.

Life history: Single-brooded. Aestivates before reappearing in late summer/autumn.

Identification: Fairly distinctive with the row of black dots across the wing.

Habitat: Open grassy habitats including gardens.

Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required.

Recorded in 16 (28%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1979.
