Morley's Final Catalogue: Is confined to west coast from Sussex to I. Man.

[Not recorded in Suffolk during Morley's time]

Recent Status: The first county records came from Orfordness on 3, 15 & 19.07.2003 with further records at this site up to at least 2014 (M. Marsh). Singletons noted for the first time at Bawdsey Hall on 13 and 26 September 2018 (M.J. Deans). Suspected immigrant in the county. A likely future colonist as the range of this moth is spreading rapidly.

Identification: Forewings paler and greyer than similar species. Hindwings are much cleaner white. A weakly marked pale yellow costa also assist what can be quite a tricky identification. Compare with Scarce Footman.

Habitat: Formerly cliffs and beaches in the south and west of Britain, the moth has colonised many new habitats including woodland and gardens.
