Morley's Final Catalogue: In profusion throughout the county; occasionally at Monks Soham light in July and August. The somewhat unusual ab. finbriaria, Ste., was first described as a good species, 'Alcis fimbriaria, by Stephens from a single male ''taken, I believe, in Suffolk'' (Ste. Illus. Brit. Ent. iii, 1831, p.188,, fig.1.) Male.

Recent Suffolk Status: Abundant.

Life history: Double-brooded. Second brood more common. The melanic f. rebeli is occasionally seen in the county.
