Recent Suffolk Status: Common.

Life history: Single-brooded. Larvae have been found occasionally in the county on Oak and one record on a Walnut tree. Dark forms of the moth are recorded in Suffolk fairly regularly.

Identification: Fairly unmistakeable. The slightly similar Peppered moth flies later in the year.

Habitat: Woodland, parkland, gardens.
