Morley's Final Catalogue: Not known from the county in Morley's time. First Suffolk records in the 1970s.

Recent Suffolk Status: Immigrant and transitory resident.

Life history: Single-brooded. Has become quite scarce in recent years with few records.

Identification: Much larger than other thorns. August thorn holds wings flatter when at rest. Canary-shouldered thorn has the bright yellow thorax.

Habitat: Woodlands, scrub, gardens.

Recorded in 25 (43%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1946.
Last Recorded in 2023.
