Morley's Final Catalogue: Most interestingly scarce in our county. ''Local: Bentley, Needham, Barton, Cavenham, Beccles'' before 1890. Later, four specimens were taken at Dodnash Wood, in the three years 1894-6, by Hocking; the species was reported to have occurred at Belstead, and I secured a single example at electric light in Ipswich on 10 July, 1895 (Mly). Apparently strongly decadent.

Recent Suffolk Status: Local.

Life history: Single-brooded. Larvae have been found in the autumn on Elms.

Identification: Magpie moth has more black markings.

Habitat: Woodland, hedgerows.

Recorded in 32 (55%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1894.
Last Recorded in 2024.
