Morley's Final Catalogue: Usually a somewhat local kind, but doubtless merely overlooked by us. Playford (Gr); Framlingham (Bloomfield); Coddenham and Combs (C); bred and captured near Timworth in 1909 (Nurse, Entom. 1911, 200).

Recent Suffolk Status: Common.

Life history: Single-brooded. A small second generation can appear in June.

Identification: Brindled pug is larger and has less obvious black wedges beyond the discal spot. Juniper pug flies much later in the year.

Habitat: Woodland, hedgerows, scrub, gardens.

Verification Grade Comment: Easily confused with Brindled pug
