Morley's Final Catalogue: Probably common on heaths, but overlooked (Barrett); feeds on heather and ling. Stowmarket. Foxhall heath, Southwold, Beccles; Fritton at light (Mly), Gorleston (Mr), Lothingland (D). Little noticed in the west, at only Tuddenham and Brandon, ante 1890.

Recent Suffolk Status: Common, mainly in the Sandlings and Breck but also scattered records elsewhere suggesting the moth wanders and/or uses planted heathers in gardens.

Life history: Regularly double-brooded in Suffolk. Larvae occasionally swept from Heather.

Identification: Fairly distinctive.

Habitat: Heathland and gardens.
