Morley's Final Catalogue: ''I have been fortunate enough to meet with a few larvae of E. denotata and pimpinellata during the last fortnight'' (Crewe at Stowmarket, 3 Sept.: Ent. Wk. Int. 1858, 189). The latter only is noticed by Bloomfield, who failed to consult the Inteligencer when compiling his Lep. of Suffolk, and has been found at Ipswich by Miller.

Recent Suffolk Status: Very rare with few Suffolk records, all in the west.

Life history: Single-brooded. Rarely seen at light, easier to find as larvae on the foodplant. Targetted searches of patches of plants in recent years have failed to find it.

Identification: Similar to Wormwood pug, but has greyish colouration on the wings especially along the costa.

Habitat: Road verges, grassland, woodland rides.
