Recent Suffolk Status: Very local.

Habitat and life history: Mainly found on chalk soils but does also occur on sandy soil where the foodplant Red Bartsia grows. The pupa may overwinter for up to five years. It flies in July and August and is attracted to light.

Identification: The forewing can vary in colour from light golden brown to dark red brown, often with a wide, darker coloured band in the centre.
