Morley's Final Catalogue: By no means common, though perhaps wide spread. Very rarely seen around Ipswich, bred on 2 May 1893 and 14 March 1900 (Mly); Playford (Gr, Ent. Wk. Int. ii, 1857, 11); recently at Gorleston (Mr), Fritton and Belton (Wiltshire).

Recent Suffolk Status: Locally common.

Life history: Single-brooded.

Identification: July highflyer flies later in the year and lacks the 3 black lines at the tip of the forewing. Ruddy highflyer is rarely greenish, tending to be greyer or more reddish.

Habitat: Carr woodlands and other wet habitats.

Recorded in 44 (76%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1900.
Last Recorded in 2024.
