Morley's Final Catalogue: Considered somewhat common in 1890. I have never seen it here (Morley). ''Very common in a Sudbury garden'' (Bloomfiel's Adds.); Copdock in 1896(Hkg); twelve at Yoxford on 21 August 1895 (Pyett); Beccles, Fritton and Gorleston 1923-35 (Mr).

Recent Suffolk Status: Local. Rarer in gardens in recent times.

Life history: Single-brooded.

Identification: Water carpet flies much earlier in the year.

Habitat: Gardens, wet woodland containing currant bushes.

Recorded in 33 (57%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1895.
Last Recorded in 2023.
