Morley's Final Catalogue: Rare and local in oak woods: we have none of beech.

Recent Suffolk status: Much increased since Morley's time. Found in the Sandlings, Breck and most larger woods in the county.

Life history: Single-brooded, flying in summer.
Occasionally seen flying around Oaks in warm sunny weather.
Unusual slug-like caterpillar.

Identification: Upright resting posture with curled abdomen, brown cross lines and small size are distinctive.

Habitats: Woodlands, wooded heathland and other sites with mature Oaks.

Recorded in 27 (47%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1897.
Last Recorded in 2024.
