Morley's Final Catalogue: Quite local, but by no means very rare along the coast. Flying in salt-marshes at Trimley in early July 1932 (Ellis, in coll. D); several years at Hemley (Wlr, EMM 1902, 247); Felixstow and in 1903 at Orford (Gibbs); Aldeburgh in July 1889 (Sheldon) and in Slaughden salt-marshes (Ctw); Leiston (Hkr); and Southwold.

Recent Suffolk Status: Local along the coast. Occasionally wanders further inland.

Life history: double brooded in Suffolk.

Identification: Lesser cream wave has more rounded forewings and curved cross lines.

Habitat: Coastal habitats including saltmarshes.
