Morley's Final Catalogue: Distinctly local, common only on chalk strata and not following clematis onto the chalky boulder-clay. Sudbury (Ransom); Copdock on 16 July 1896 (Hkg); Bentley (Ml); Ipswich in 1893 (Pyett); common at Claydon and Barham (Sparke), many among clematis at Barham Green 14 July 1899 (Mly); Stowmarket; Bury (Wrt, Ent. ii, 340; Sparke); Hardwick. Recorded in the east at Aldeburgh and Beccles, but not since 1890.

Recent Suffolk Status: More widespread than Morley's time, across the whole county now.

Life history: Single brooded in the summer.

Identification: Bluish-green colouration and white cross lines are distinctive. Faded individuals could be confused with Light emerald but that has less rounded wings.

Habitat: Woodlands, scrub, gardens, hedgerows.

Recorded in 48 (83%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1893.
Last Recorded in 2024.
