Life history: This is a double-brooded species.

Identification: Unmistakeable, especially when at rest with the wings folded steeply over the body resembling a bird dropping.

Habitats: Woodland, heathy woodland, gardens, parks, scrub, hedgerows.

Recorded in 56 (97%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1930.
