Morley's Final Catalogue: Not recorded during Morley's time.

Recent Suffolk Status: A rare migrant with five records to date: Bawdsey Manor on 02.08.2009 (M.J. Deans), Kessingland on 12.05.2018 (A. Eaton), Felixstowe on 02.08.2020 (W. Brame), Carlton Colville on 10.08.2020 (P. Follett) and Purdis Farm, Ipswich on 17/05/2022 (N. Sherman). A recent colonist in Kent so we may witness a future colonisation here in Suffolk.

Identification: Usually darker than Pebble Hook-tip which has outer discal spot on the forewing much larger. Another feature is the hind-wing which on Pebble the cross-lines are more jagged with the wing noticeably paler towards the costa.

Life history: Double-brooded.

Habitat: Most Suffolk records have been coastal. A woodland species in its native range.
