Morley's Final Catalogue: Very general on our heathlands, but a good deal scarcer than formerly.

Recent Suffolk Status: Common in the Sandlings, on the coast and in the Breck area.

Life history: Single brooded in the summer. Males can be seen on warm afternoons/evenings flying fast over the habitat searching for females. Females regularly found in light traps where they lay numerous egg batches. Larvae regularly found in autumn and again occasionally in the spring.

Identification: No similar species occur in the county.

Habitats: Heathland, coastal grassland, scrub, rough grassland.
