Recent Suffolk status: Very common and widespread.

Life history: Single-brooded, flying in late spring/early summer.

Identification: Markings can be variable especially in the extent of white. Females generally larger and plainer than the males. Normally dull brown in colour.

Habitats: Grasslands, gardens, woodland rides and waste ground.

Recorded in 55 (95%) of 58 10k Squares.
