Morley's Final Catalogue: One of our commonest Snout-moths, occurring everywhere in early July; especially noticed at Bentley Woods in 1894-5, at Monks Soham light in 1915-28 (Mly), and at Beccles (Mr).

Recent Suffolk Status: Common.

Life history: Single-brooded in the summer.

Identification: Similar to other species of Fan-foot. Common Fan-foot (extinct in the county) has a greyish forewing and a white hindwing. The scarce Shaded Fan-foot is smaller and has a straighter first cross-line and darker shading across the centre of the forewing. Small Fan-foot is the smallest species and the outer line curves to the top corner of the forewing.

Habitat: A wide variety of habitats including gardens.

First Recorded in 1894.
Last Recorded in 2024.
