Morley's Final Catalogue: Not very rare, often mixed with the next kind. Ipswich (Ml), not uncommon at shop lights (Mly, Pyett, Baylis: teste Bloomfield); Needham district (H. Lingwood); Aldeburgh (Wrt); Beccles (Crf); and recently at Gorleston (D).

Recent Suffolk Status: Local, mainly in wetland habitats.

Life history: Single-brooded.

Identification: The patterning on this species makes it unmistakeable.

Habitat: Fens, reedbeds, carr woodland, marshland and gardens.

Recorded in 42 (72%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1940.
Last Recorded in 2024.
