Morley's Final Catalogue: Fairly common; most usually dug as pupae in winter, and generally distributed.

Recent Suffolk Status: Common.

Life history: Single-brooded. Records from January and February in Suffolk.
Common at light and also found on Sallow blossom.

Identification: A very variable species in colour and forewing shape. Lead-coloured drab is normally smaller, has a more rounded forewing and feathered antennae in the male. Northern drab is also smaller, has a pointed forewing and has a darker brown central band, although this can be quite faint in Suffolk specimens of that species.

Habitat: Woodland, scrub, hedgerows, gardens.

Last Recorded in 2024.
