Morley's Final Catalogue: Referring also to Bright-line brown-eye: Both are common and levelly distributed throughout the County. The former (Bright line brown-eye) first noted here at Sudbury in 1836 (Ent. Mag. iv, 223).

Recent Suffolk Status: Local, mainly in the Sandlings and Breck. Some evidence of a recent decline in Suffolk.

Life history: Single-brooded. Recorded at light in small numbers. The colourful and obvious larvae have been recorded in the county occasionally.

Identification: Bright-line brown-eye has a whitish outer line with a clear W mark. Broom moth has a creamy line which is more uneven.

Habitat: Heathland, open woodland, grassland.
