Recent Suffolk Status: Abundant across the county, sometimes appearing in large numbers in traps.

Life history: Single-brooded. Recorded occasionally as early as June. Larvae easy to find in numbers over the winter and early spring at night in many grassy habitats including gardens.

Identification: Extremely variable in colour. The similar Garden dart is a narrower looking moth.
