Morley's Final Catalogue: Levelly distributed, and anything but rare from Sudbury (Ransom) to Gorleston (D).

Recent Suffolk Status: One of our commonest noctuids and very widespread.

Life history: Double-brooded. Seen from the end of March to November in Suffolk.

Identification: Compare with the Flame, which rests with wings tightly wrapped around the body looking like a broken twig. Female Shuttle-shaped darts are quite often much darker than the males.

Habitat: A wide variety of habitats including gardens.

Recorded in 56 (97%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1930.
Last Recorded in 2023.
