Morley's Final Catalogue: Abundant everywhere, from Tuddenham to Bentley Woods; Belton (Mr); common in Gorleston, larvae at Frostenden (D).

Recent Suffolk status: Fairly common though not usually seen in numbers.

Life history: Flies in the summer with a partial second brood later in the year which is becoming more regular in recent years.

Identification: Unmistakeable.

Habitats: Scrub, woodland, woodland rides, gardens.

Recorded in 50 (86%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1930.
Last Recorded in 2024.
