Morley's Final Catalogue: Extremely abundant on whitethorn; imagines from Sudbury to Gorleston in October.

Recent Suffolk Status: Much declined and now very rare with few records since 2000. Declining nationally.

Life history: Single-brooded. Seen late September into October in Suffolk.

Identification: Unlike any other species flying at that time of year.

Habitat: Woodland, hedgerows, scrubby areas.
