Morley's Final Catalogue: By no means infrequent about poplars throughout the county, from Felixstowe to Gorleston and Brandon staunch.

Recent Suffolk Status: Common and widespread. One of the commonest Suffolk hawk moth species.

Life history: Double brooded. Larvae occasionally found in the summer on willows and poplars.

Identification: Eyed hawk is much browner and has eye-spots on the hindwings.

Habitats: Gardens, parks, woodland, wet woodland, scrub.

Recorded in 56 (97%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1930.
Last Recorded in 2024.
