Morley's Final Catalogue: Fairly frequent everywhere throughout the county, at both dusk and light, in July. Recently noticed about Ipswich; Martlesham (D); Monks Soham (Mly) and Gorleston (Mr).

Recent Suffolk Status: Common.

Life history: Single-brooded. Very occasional records in the autumn in recent years. Larvae have been found at night on Ivy in the autumn during searches for moths on the flowers.

Identification: Unmistakeable.

Habitat: Woodlands, scrub areas, hedgerows, gardens.

Recorded in 55 (95%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1940.
Last Recorded in 2024.
