Morley's Final Catalogue: Certainly generally distributed and perhaps common, but little noticed. Rather rare about Ipswich (Mly, Baylis); Bentley Woods; Monks Soham light; frequent at Weston. Gorleston (D).

Recent Suffolk Status: Very common. One of Suffolk's more regularly encountered pug species.

Life history: Single-brooded. Larvae occasionally found on various flowers.

Identification: Pauper pug has longer wings, unlike the short and rounded wings of Grey pug. Yarrow pug is another long-winged species and is not greyish in colour.
Worth noting that if it is a struggle to identify a pug more often than not it will turn out to be a Grey pug!

Habitat: A wide variety of habitats.

Recorded in 48 (83%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1940.
Last Recorded in 2024.
