Morley's Final Catalogue: This beautiful species is quite rare with us, and infrequent through more southern England. It was found at Stowmarket about 1855 by the Revd. H. Harpur Crewe; and Mrs. Mann secured a single specimen at light in Bungay during 1900.

Recent Suffolk Status: Very local, with few recent records. Appears to be in decline.

Life history: Single-brooded.

Identification: Common pug is similar but that species has a gently curving costa, unlike the straight costa on Satyr pug.

Habitat: Grassland with plenty of flowers, woodland rides, heathland.

Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required.

Recorded in 15 (26%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1855.
Last Recorded in 2023.
