Morley's Final Catalogue: Overlooked or confused, and (though always abundant in the New Forest) almost unrecorded from Sufolk since 1890, when it was known here solely from Playford (Gr) and Ipswich (Ml). One specimen in Gorleston garden among foxglove in 1933 (Mr).

Recent Suffolk Status: Locally common. More common than in Morley's time.

Life history: Single-brooded. Larvae have been found by looking for spun-up Foxglove flowers in July.

Identification: Toadflax pug is smaller, flies later in the year and has a curved outer edge to the dark band with no kink.

Habitat: Woodland glades and rides, gardens, heathy woodland.
