Morley's Final Catalogue: Another merely local pug, known only by Dunning's record of it from Brandon so long ago as 1849 (Entom. 1869, 372), confirmed by one specimen beaten from a hedge by Crutwell at Southwold in 1891 (EMM. xxvii, 221), at the other extremity of the county.

Recent Suffolk Status: Rare immigrant. 4 recent Suffolk records.

Life history: Single-brooded.

Identification: A large species of pug, much bigger than the similar Dwarf pug.

Habitat: Coniferous woodland where native, but Suffolk records mainly coastal.
