Morley's Final Catalogue: Distinctly local but abundant where it occurs, in marshes; unnoted in the south. Glemham Magna (Bloomfield); Beccles (Crf); Bradwell Fen on 6 June 1933 (and abundant at Caister: Mly); somewhat common at Bungay (Mn). Stowmarket (C); near Timworth in 1911 (Nurse).

Recent Suffolk Status: Locally common.

Life history: Single-brooded. Larvae have been found by collecting fallen Sallow catkins with adults bred out by keeping catkins in a well-ventilated container.

Identification: A small species of pug, normally greyish with quite rounded wings. The similar Maple pug is normally more yellowish brown in colour and has a pale square mark in the forewing apex.

Habitat: Woodland, wetlands, river valleys, some gardens
