Morley's Final Catalogue: Eye in August 1859.

Recent Suffolk status: Not currently known to occur in the county. A more northern and western species in the UK in recent times.

Life history: Single-brooded, flying in late spring/early summer.

Identification: A large species of Swift moth. Marbled map-like patterning with chequered wing fringes quite distinctive. Plain f. gallica has brown wings with a single white spot. Any records will require a clear photograph for confirmation.

Habitats: Moorland, heathland and open woodlands.

Retained Specimen / Photograph will be Required.
