Morley's Final Catalogue: Rare and very local; probably not mixed with the last kind, than which all the wings are distinctly darker. Woodbridge (Greene). Stowmarket (Crewe); Needham and Bury (Skepper). Unnoticed with us since 1890.

Recent Suffolk Status: The status of this moth has changed dramatically in recent times, becoming fairly common and widespread across the county now.

Life history: Single-brooded, emerging in the autumn with the mated females hibernating and appearing again in spring in small numbers. Frequent at Ivy blossom in the autumn.
Larvae have been found on various trees including Sycamore.

Identification: Autumn green carpet (a very rare species now in the county) is paler green with no reddish markings.

Habitat: Various habitats including woodlands and gardens.

Recorded in 44 (76%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1930.
Last Recorded in 2023.
