Morley's Final Catalogue: Constantly beaten from every hedge in the County, from Nayland to Gorleston.

Recent Suffolk Status: Very common.

Life history: Double-brooded.

Identification: This species and Dark barred twin-spot carpet are a tricky pair to tell apart. Dark barred appears rarer in the county and is more associated with wetland habitats. Dark barred can have a distinctive small notch on the inner edge of the dark band, but this feature is not 100% reliable. Dark barred also has a red form but this is apparently rare. Records of red coloured moths will generally be accepted as Red twin-spot but not as the red form of Dark barred unless dissection is undertaken.

Habitat: A wide variety of habitats including gardens.

Recorded in 55 (95%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1940.
Last Recorded in 2024.
