Morley's Final Catalogue: Not known from the county in Morley's time.

Recent Suffolk Status: Scarce immigrant. First seen in Suffolk in 1996, in the King's Forest (R. Eley). Not seen again until 2007 when one was taken at Purdis Farm, Ipswich the first VC25 record (N. Sherman). Occasional coastal records up until 2022 when an influx occurred in the autumn with 8 records logged, coinciding with warm winds from southern Europe.

Life history: Multi brooded on the continent. Suffolk records mainly in the autumn apart from the 2007 record which was in May.

Identification: False mocha is more coarsely freckled and has darker patches on outer edge of forewing. Second brood Clay triple lines have a more strongly hooked forewing tip and usually show some cross lines.

Habitat: Coastal habitats.
