Morley's Final Catalogue: Somewhat rare in 1890 and decreasing in numbers in ratio to the felling of our oak woods; but still scattered over the whole county.

Recent Suffolk Status: Common.

Life history: This is a double-brooded species.

Identification: Has 2 blackish spots in centre of forewing and 2 pale cross-lines.
Sometimes seen flying round Oaks in warm sunny weather.

Habitats: Woodland, heathy woodland, gardens, parks.

Recorded in 53 (91%) of 58 10k Squares.
First Recorded in 1857.
Last Recorded in 2024.
